The rugged Galaxy S6 could sport a bigger screen

Yesterday we told you that there was a high possibility that Samsung would follow last year’s pattern and release a Galaxy S6 Active, just like it did in 2014 after the debut of the Galaxy S5.

The rugged handset will once again be sold exclusively from AT&T and will probably become available around May.

Apart from that, the leak didn't provide us with other details concerning the specifications of the device. But now the handset (with model number SM-G890A) has been spotted in the Indian import-export database Zauba, showing us an interesting detail (as seen at Mobifo).

While the Galaxy S6 launched with a 5.1-inch display, it appears that the Galaxy S6 Active will arrive in the wild with a larger 5.5-inch form factor and boasting 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution (Quad HD display) like the “regular” model.

The Galaxy S6 does not enjoy the same waterproof capabilities as its predecessor and a lot of Samsung fans were disappointed by this aspect. However, the Galaxy S6 Active will solve this problem for them by bringing water and dust-proof capabilities into the equation.

We don’t know whether the Galaxy S6 Active will come with other changes. Should we expect a different CPU or a different camera setup? We currently can’t say, but we’ll keep you posted if news on the matter emerges.
