South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has been long rumored to plan the launch of a new flagship device in its Galaxy S lineup, and some more info on the matter is now available.

According to a recent article on Tencent, the smartphone will hit shelves with a 2K screen, but not with an AMOLED one, the same as other Galaxy S devices.

Supposedly called Galaxy S5, the handset is expected to have a 5.25-inch LTPS display from Sharp, capable of a 560 ppi pixel density.

Apparently, Samsung has had some issues with the development of its own Quad HD AMOLED panels, and it won’t be able to have them available in time for the launch of Galaxy S5.

As UnwiredView notes, the company is also focused on mass producing flexible screens for next year’s flagship devices, and it has decided to go for Sharp’s panels for this year’s handsets.
