Earlier this year, South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics made official a new version of its Galaxy S5 flagship device, in the form of Galaxy S5 Active, and it appears that it is getting ready for the release of this handset in Europe.

The smartphone is already available for purchase, though only users in the United States can acquire it for the time being.

Soon, however, this should change, a recent post on SamMobile notes. Apparently, Samsung has finally decided to release it in Europe as well, and it should make the move in the not too distant future.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active should arrive in Europe with a price tag of €629 ($814) attached to it, but it still remains to be seen when exactly that will happen.

As a reminder, the handset comes with about the same hardware as the Galaxy S5, but with a tougher body. It features IP67 certification for water and dust resistance, and it is also protected against shock, temperature, humidity, and rain.

At the same time, the mobile phone sports a 5.1-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal memory.

Galaxy S5 Active features a 16-megapixel camera on the back, runs under Android 4.4 KitKat, and is powered by a 2800mAh battery. It also includes a heart rate sensor, but lacks a fingerprint sensor.
