Holding on to a Samsung Galaxy S5 Active handset? While the fully-fledged Galaxy S5 is receiving the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, the Galaxy S5 Active is not so lucky.

The handset is an AT&T exclusive and is designed to survived drops, falls and bumps as well as being submerged into up to 3.2 ft / 1m of water for as long as 30 minutes.

The Galaxy S5 also takes advantage of IP67 certifications, but the Active model is a little bit more rugged, as it is constructed of stronger plastic.

Anyway, as of this week Samsung has started rolling out the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. The Korean tech giant says the new build will bring about several improvements, as well as bug fixes and security updates.

But we have a little bit of bad news too. Samsung explains that the update can be postponed up to three times. However, the fourth time the phone will ignore your unwillingness to upgrade and automatically download and install the new build.

That’s to say that if you have a Galaxy S5 Active smartphone, you better get used to the idea of having version 4.4.4 on your model.

Can you hope for Android 5.0 to make a debut at some point? Yes you can, but we have no clue how long this will take.
