South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung Electronics has been long rumored to plan the release of a tougher version of its flagship Galaxy S5 smartphone, and the device appears to be nearing its official release.
Supposedly called Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, the mobile phone has been spotted online before and made another appearance today, in a User Agent Profile that allegedly confirms some of its main specifications.
Said UAProf was published to a Samsung device with model number SM-G870A attached to it, which will arrive on shelves with a touchscreen display capable of delivering a full HD resolution.
According to GSMArena, this suggests that the handset will not be released as a Galaxy S5 mini, as Samsung is unlikely to pack the more compact variant of its flagship with such a high resolution display.
However, a Galaxy S5 Active could easily sport a full HD resolution, alongside other enhancements, though it’s yet unclear what Samsung could pack it with to make it tougher when compared to the Galaxy S5.
For those out of the loop, we should note that Samsung unveiled the flagship device with a dust- and water-resistant design.
Chances are that the South Korean vendor would plan on releasing the phone with an aim at those who live a very active life, thus packing it with rubber-like accents on the body, so as to increase grip. Stay tuned for more on the matter.
