You’re probably familiar with DisplayMate, which normally is in the business of testing the display of new electronics and comparing them with the competition.

On today’s market, the customer is bombarded with a variety of display technologies and their different methods of calibration deemed the most appropriate by device manufacturers. But is there such a thing as “the best display” smartphone-wise?

According to the folks of DisplayMate, the crown goes to Samsung’s latest flagship Galaxy Note 4 smartphone, which saw the light of day at IFA 2014.

Their evaluation found the screen on the Note 4 to be the “best performing,” but it’s interesting to note that DisplayMate has often found Samsung flagship products to be the best of their kind. The same title was won by the Galaxy Tab S AMOLED tablets a few months ago.

The tests performed in their labs showed that the Note 4 represented an improvement over the Galaxy Note 3 and even the recent Galax S5. The QHD display on the phone was found to be incredibly sharp and capable of delivering peak brightness, advanced color accuracy, and power efficiency.

On top of that, the report hails Samsung for providing users with the tools to switch between color modes depending on what type of content they want to view on their phone, something that sets the handset apart from the competition.
