Great news for Samsung Galaxy Mega owners who have purchased their smartphones through Sprint's official retail channels, as the carrier has just confirmed that an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is now available for the phablet.

Sprint is the second carrier that offers the KitKat update for Galaxy Mega, after AT&T made the same move about one week ago.

According to Sprint, software update L600VPUANE4 is now pushed over the air (OTA) to all Galaxy Mega devices, but given the fact that this is a staged rollout, it might take a while until it reaches all users.

The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update will bring new lock screen access, such as full-screen album art and media controls when listening to music, as well as the option to access the Camera application right from the lock screen.

Thanks to the update, Samsung Galaxy Mega users will now be able to select a default application for sending and receiving SMS text messages. The Status and Navigation bars have been revamped, so you will now notice they are translucent and can sit on top of apps, along with simplified status bar icons.

Furthermore, location services are integrated and more detailed by the new Location menu and there are a lot more Emoji icons available now.

Last but not least, KitKat introduces wireless printing, so users will be able to print over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and the Prevention Information pop-up message has been suppressed.
