The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge have just started going on sale with bells and whistles in the US and other territories, but the Korean tech giant is also busy rolling out a lower-end model in the States.

We’re talking about the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, which is now offered by Cricket Wireless, an AT&T subsidiary focused on prepaid plans.

The handset will cost you only $179 / €169, and since Cricket is a prepaid carrier, you won’t have to embark on any long-time contract with the company. The device is currently available with a white paint job.

As for specifications, the handset arrives with a 5-inch 540 x 960 pixel resolution display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset with 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex A-53 CPU, plus Adreno 306 GPU and 1GB of RAM. With this model, Samsung is also offering 8GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card) and an 8MP/5MP camera combo.

The whole handset relies on a 2,600 mAh battery to be maintained alive. We should also mention that the Galaxy Grand Prime has 4G LTE and runs Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box.

Sadly, you won’t be able to take advantage of Android 5.0 Lollipop here, but Samsung might be looking to update the device at some point.
