South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung has officially confirmed the launch of its large Galaxy Note II smartphone on the US market for this month.

The company has sent out invitations to a New York City event set for October 24th to celebrate the handset’s release, which leaves little doubt about its intentions.

What’s still uncertain is whether the 5.5-inch phablet will actually go for sale on that day, just as some of the previous rumors on the matter suggested.

On its official website, Samsung says that Galaxy Note II will be available in the United States by mid-November on the networks of five large carriers in the country, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and US Cellular.

Packing both a larger screen and a more powerful processor when compared to the original Galaxy Note, the new device is expected to sell twice as fast.
