Launched one year ago, AT&T’s Samsung Captivate Glide is about to receive the long-awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

The smartphone was released with Gingerbread onboard, but Samsung and AT&T are working together to optimize the Ice Cream Sandwich update for Captivate Glide.

The carrier has just announced the upgrade will be available for download beginning November 10 via Samsung’s dedicated site.

The update is expected to bring new features, including a brand new browser with faster page loading, tabbed browsing, offline reading and desktop mode.

In addition, Samsung Captivate Glide owners will get new lock/unlock features such as the ability to unlock directly to the camera, text messaging, phone dialer, or home screen.

In other news, AT&T also claims it will continue to launch the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade on additional smartphones, so stay tuned for more info on the matter.
