The first to get the update are Australian users

Samsung ATIV S is an old Windows Phone smartphone that's still getting updates from Microsoft, unlike its Android counterpart that has been abandoned by the South Korean company.

The handset has been released back in December 2012 with Windows Phone 8.1 operating system out of the box. However, the device has already received the Windows Phone 8.1.1 in most countries and there's a chance that will get Windows 10 for Phones as well, though the information hasn't been confirmed yet.

Anyway, until Microsoft released Windows 10 for Phones later this summer, it looks like Samsung ATIV S is getting another firmware update.

Windowsteca reports Samsung ATIV S owners in Australia are now receiving new firmware version 2424.15.3.2 on their devices. It's unclear though whether or not this is only a local update meant to fix specific issues.

It's also worth mentioning that there's no changelog available for this update and those who have already captured it haven't noticed anything changed. This means the update may only contain “under the hood” changes.

If you own the Samsung ATIV S, then it's worth checking for the update even if you're not located in Australia by heading to Settings / Update your phone / Check for updates.
