Today, Jolla has announced the availability of an update for its Sailfish OS, aimed at resolving a series of issues that users have spotted with the MMS functionality.

Apparently, this was one of the major issues found to affect Sailfish OS devices, and many people have expressed their discontent on the matter.

However, following the new update, all problems with the MMS functionality of Jolla phones (found in software version 1.0.5.16) should be resolved, it seems.

The changelog published on the sailfishos.org explains that the hotfix will resolve issues with decoding, while also improving validation.

“The issues fixed include changes to decoding of some MMS fields, enhancing interoperability with certain providers, better input validation of user provided settings and updates to the built-in provider database,” the team notes.

The update also replaces Content-Disposition:Inline with Attachment, changes the default User-Agent to "Mozilla/5.0 (Sailfish; Jolla)," and also removes leaving and trailing spaces from the URLs.

Moreover, the hotfix (which features build number 1.0.5.19) changes MMS settings for carriers such as Orange France, Drei (Austria), Etisalat (UAE) and MTel (Bulgaria).

The new update will arrive on devices as a 2MB download. Those who would like to learn more details on it should head over to this page on Jolla’s website.
