South Korean mobile phone carrier SK Telecom is getting ready to deploy a new fast wireless network in the country, one that would provide users with speeds of up to 300Mbps.

Based on LTE-Advanced technology, the network will combine two 20MHz LTE bands to achieve the aforementioned data transfer speeds.

As TNW notes, LTE networks can usually offer speeds of up to 75Mbps, while LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) networks clock in at 150 Mbps. SK Telecom’s new 3band LTE-Advanced technology should deliver twice that, it seems.

The wireless carrier also notes that, on its upcoming network, users will be able to download an 800 MB movie in only 22 seconds.

SK Telecom is set to showcase the technology in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, while promising availability before the end of this year. However, it appears that only smartphones, tablets, and PCs fitted with dedicated support will enjoy it.
