Well-known publisher and developer of games SEGA has just announced the upcoming release of a new title in the Crazy Taxi franchise.

Dubbed Crazy Taxi: City Rush, the game will be the result of the collaboration between Kenji Kanno, the legendary creator of the original Crazy Taxi game, and mobile developer Hardlight Studios.

According to SEGA, the new game will be launched later this year and will be available for download for free on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Android devices.

However, the publisher has also stated that an early version of Crazy Taxi: City Rush has already been launched in some countries. The full global release is said to be later this year, but the exact launch date will be announced later on.

Fans of the original game should know that the sequel will contain a wide range of “adrenaline-fueled missions, wild challenges,” as well as unique areas to unlock and explore.

Players will be able to customize their cab for more power and visual appeal. SEGA has also confirmed that Crazy Taxi: City Rush will include some sort of multiplayer mode where you will be able to take your friends for a ride through the city and earn special rewards.

In celebration of the announcement, SEGA has announced that the first game in the Crazy Taxi franchise is now available for free for a limited period, both on the App Store and Google Play Store.
