The smartphone is no longer being sold through the carrier’s online portal

Canadian wireless carrier Rogers appears to be getting ready to discontinue the Moto X smartphone, as it has already removed it from its online store.

The smartphone can still be seen online on Rogers’ website, yet users interested in purchasing it will not be able to do so through the portal, as MobileSyrup notes.

Rogers is still selling a lot of old devices, which makes it a bit of a surprise that it has decided to kill the Moto X, given that the phone landed on shelves in August last year.

However, it is possible either that the device did not sell as well as the wireless carrier might have expected, or that Motorola is gearing up for the launch of a new device.

Apparently, Rogers has already confirmed plans to end the life of Moto X, though the company has not provided specific info on what determined it to make the move.

“Moto X is nearing discontinuation at Rogers. Discontinued devices are removed from the rogers.com product catalogue, however the Moto X is still available at many Rogers and Fido retailers. Customers should check with their local Rogers or Fido store for more info,” the carrier reportedly said.

Users interested in purchasing the Moto X from Rogers will still find it available in the company’s stores.
