A new flavor of the Plex for Android application is set to become available for download through the Google Play Store this week, rebuilt from scratch.

The company has announced in a recent blog post plans to make the new app iteration available for Android devices alongside the existing flavor, with a nice range of new features packed inside.

Among these, we can count Google Cloud Messaging, lock-screen music controls, global search integration, support for PlexSync, and various performance enhancements.

“The app is fast, smooth, and beautiful. It uses paging and infinite scrolling and network data compression, which means access to giant libraries is superfast. It supports the same rich filters you’ve gotten to know and love from Plex/Web,” the company announced.
