Google has finally started to deliver the updated Gmail application for Android devices as version 4.5, after officially announcing its availability last week.

Not only does the new application flavor bring along a redesigned interface, but it also packs a series of other improvements, including some that affect the performance of the software.

On Android 4.1 and up devices, users will be able to reply, archive or delete messages straight from notifications, without having to open the app.

All owners of Android 4.0 and newer devices will enjoy faster search, even when offline, along with bug fixes and performance improvements.

Furthermore, there are new Labels API for 3rd-party app developers available for all Android 2.2 and up devices, along with performance enhancements, Google announced.
