Will the chip arrive later than anticipated?

Not so long ago I was telling you Qualcomm was rumored to be having issues with its Snapdragon 810 chip production.

Subsequently, a company official stepped forward in order to deny the talk, saying that production was on track for 1H 2015 release.

Since the info comes directly from the company, we have to assume it’s the real deal and rest assured.

Nevertheless, new reports coming to us via G for Games now claim Qualcomm’s real problem isn't the Snapdragon 810 chipset, but the 615 model.

The processor, which is a 64-bit octa-core CPU, was originally scheduled to arrive back in February 2014. However, the new information claims the chip-giant is having some design issues which could translate into a late arrival on the market.

The delay is forcing OEMs to turn their faces towards different companies like MediaTek, whose MTK6752 SoC (64-bit octa-core) might represent a viable alternative to the Snapdragon 615.

The Snapdragon 615 processor represents the industry’s first 64-bit octa-core processor with 4G capabilities.

On paper this chip sounds pretty swell, but we are yet to see it perform in real life. Even so, Vivo has already announced the X5 Max which is dubbed as the world’s slimmest smartphone and is supposed to draw life from this particular chip.
