Research In Motion has unveiled a while ago plans to release a new major OS upgrade for its PlayBook tablet PC, but has been mum on when the software would actually arrive on devices.

As it turns out, that day might be getting closer and closer, as leaked documentation on the platform has started to emerge online.

The BlackBerry Bridge App 2.1 and BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet 2.1 Security Technical Overview has been spotted online yesterday, which could be a hit at the near availability of the new software.

Available as a PDF file, the overview (which emerged over at bbnews.pl) is dated July 2012 and offers generic info on the new platform release, as well as on the BlackBerry Bridge App 2.1.

Those of you who would like to learn more on the platform and the accompanying app should have a look at the file.
