One of the few cross-platform messaging applications available on BlackBerry platform, PingMe Messenger has just received a major update which adds several new features and improvements.

The most important change seems to be the improved battery life and the BBM integration. According to the guys over at CrackBerry, the application received negative feedback last year when it was launched due to some issues with battery drainage.

However, the problem seems to have been corrected in the latest version, along with other issues that have been previously reported.

There is a new selection of chat bubbles and wallpapers, notifications when friends in the list are joining PingMe.

Users can also add Google images into conversations, and they can also customize their thumbnail image in group messages.

Developed by RadiumOne Labs, PingMe Messenger for BlackBerry 1.6.12 is now available as a free download via App World.
