A new quad-core Android-based smartphone might arrive on shelves in the near future, namely the EF52S from Pantech.

The handset has been spotted in the GLBenchmark 2.5 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset inside (APQ8064), with its cores clocked in at 1512MHz, and with a Qualcomm Adreno 320 GPU.

Moreover, the new device is said to be running under Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, and capable of an HD resolution (1196 x 720).

The handset would come to shelves with on-screen keys (which explains the missing pixels from the actual 1280 x 720 resolution of the display), while packing support for LTE / W-CDMA / GSM bands.

No additional info on the new device has emerged for the time being, nor an official announcement on its existence, but Blog of Mobile notes that it might prove to be a high-end smartphone.
