The company is currently in talks with Microsoft over Android patent use
Shortly after LG and Microsoft announced that they had inked a partnership over the Android patent use, another South Korean handset manufacturer is about to sign a similar agreement with the Redmond-based giant.
According to Yonhap News, Pantech is in talks with Microsoft over the Android patent use, but additional details on the exact amount of royalties that the South Korean company will agree to pay are yet to be unveiled.
A Pantech spokesperson is quoted as saying that the company is currently “in talks with Microsoft over the patent use, but specific details have not yet been decided.”
The handset maker’s move to ink an agreement with Microsoft as soon as possible is meant to protect Pantech from further lawsuits over the illegal use of Android patents. LG, Samsung and HTC have signed similar agreements with Microsoft.
