Are you one of those people who need to know every single detail about the item they are going to purchase? If so, Panasonic has a nifty piece of technology that will soon be able to aid you in your purchasing activities.

Dig Info has recently showcased a video in which Panasonic is boasting a new technique for encoding information through LED light sources.

The new system makes use of an LED light source in order to allow the handset to read optical ID signals coming from certain items.

Basically, you just point the phone towards an item and the handset will be able to “read” it. Thus, customers will be offered details about availability, the quality of the material making up the product, and other valuable information.

The idea of using LED transmitters is not new to the world of retail, but Panasonic has managed to perfect the speed of data transmission. Also, the LED system doesn't need to operate in the light spectrum visible to the human eye.

So even if the user can’t see anything, the smartphone is still capable of picking up the signal from the item.

Panasonic is expected to bring the technology to the market in the fiscal year 2016, and the company should also license it to other device makers.
