Apart from making pretty worthy camera equipment, Panasonic is also in the business of producing smartphones. But even if the company’s handsets aren’t as popular as Apple’s or Samsung’s, they have still managed to create some hype in India.

Now, the company has just introduced a new smartphone that it’s selling for an affordable price tag. The Eluga S Mini arrives with a 4.7-inch HD IPS display and draws life from an unnamed 1.4GHz octa-core processor aided by 1GB of RAM (as seen at Fone Arena).

The phone dons an 8MP main camera plus a 5MP selfie shooter and comes with 8GB of expandable storage on board. Android 4.4.2 KitKat is the operating system powering it, but given that Eluga S Mini is a budget handset, this shouldn’t come as a surprise.

As is the case with most phones announced in India, the Eluga S Mini is a dual-SIM device that supports only 3G, so no LTE here.

Apparently, the smartphone will be offered for $140 / €127, which is pretty decent. Panasonic also throws in a bunch of new fun features like Blink Play, a function that lets users trigger a selfie by virtue of blinking or winking at the device.

The new Panasonic Eluga S Mini will become available in white through the country’s main retail channels.
