Microsoft has released a major update for its official Outlook application for Android devices, which promises to bring a fresh look and new features.

According to developers, “native support for Exchange ActiveSync on Android devices varies significantly and so we build a separate app to ensure as many people as possible can have a great Outlook.com experience across all their devices.”

Basically, the latest version of Outlook comes with a completely redesigned UI, along with a range of new features, such as conversation threading, as well as filters for unread and flagged mail. The ability to mark messages as junk has been included as well.

Outlook.com 7.8.2.11.48.3439 is now available as a free download via Google Play Store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Android 2.1 and up. Check it out here.
