OnePlus One is celebrating one year of existence

The fact that the OnePlus One smartphone became so popular among Android enthusiasts could be attributed to its elitist ordering system.

The startup offered the smartphone only to a select few via an invitation system. But although the company has faced criticism in some circles for trying to generate buzz and hype by limiting the availability of the phone, OnePlus has argued that the system was set up in order to ensure that it could keep up with orders.

Well, the OnePlus One is now celebrating one year of existence, so in order to make things more special, the company has announced it will be dropping the invite requirement for all customers looking to purchase a OnePlus One phone. On top of that, they are also offering discounts on select accessories.

So if you want to acquire the OnePlus One Premium Protector, you’ll be asked to pay only $1.50 / €1.4, while the Flip Cover goes out for only $3.75 / €3.49.

However, the stylish and premium OnePlus One Bamboo StyleSwap Cover continues to cost a hefty $49 / €45.

OnePlus says that the phone is currently shipping out globally, including USA/Canada, Europe, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

While this OnePlus One-related news is all great and dandy, we’re pretty excited to see the OnePlus 2 arrive later today as well.
