The number of smartphones caught running Windows 10 is increasing by the hour. A few hours ago, we told you that the ZTE Nubia Z9 was spotted running Microsoft’s upcoming operating system.

Now, the same has happened with the OnePlus One, as the handset has been caught red-handed running Windows Phone in the wild (as seen at LeaksFly on Twitter). But could it be a fake?

It appears this is the case and the OnePlus One in question is actually running an Android skin on top, one very reminiscent of Windows Phone.

In related news, Microsoft is gathering more and more Chinese partners to help it promote its new OS (Lenovo and Xiaomi are among them too).

The OnePlus One arrives with CyanogenMod 11S out of the box, but recently the company has broken bonds with the custom ROM maker.

So the Chinese company assembled a team of ex-Paranoid Android members and went to work on custom ROM of their own which they dubbed OxygenOS.

Anyway, OnePlus is also prepping to release its next-gen handset. We have heard several rumors about the device, and given what we’re seeing here, could it be that the Chinese company is thinking of introducing a Windows Phone version too?

The OnePlus 2 is apparently going to arrive with a QHD display and a Snapdragon 810 processor inside. We should be expecting to see the company make an announcement sometime around Q3.
