The app will hit mobile devices for free with viewing capabilities
Owners of Android devices interested in being able to open Office documents on the go will be able to do so starting with next year, new reports on the matter suggest.Apparently, Office mobile for Android will arrive on devices at the end of the first quarter of 2013, and will allow users to view Word, PowerPoint, and Excel documents on the go.
All Android users will receive access to the application for free, a report on The Verge notes. Those who would like to be able to edit these documents, however, will have to pay for it.
Editing capabilities will be available through the purchase of an Office 365 subscription, but all will be limited, so as to leave room for the use of Office 2013 on desktops, it seems.
With Microsoft already confirming plans to make Office available on mobiles, we only have to learn when that will actually happen.
