Microsoft is reportedly planning the release of a software update for its Windows Phone 8 devices to resolve a series of issues that users have reported regarding random reboots.

Owners of Nokia Lumia devices and HTC 8X smartphones have been experiencing random reboots that occurred rather often sometimes, and both handset vendors said they were looking into the matter.

Now, Microsoft themselves confirmed that a fix was under development, and that users would receive it as soon as next month.

“We’re continuing to investigate some reports of phones rebooting and have identified a cause with our partners. We are working to get an over-the-air update out in December,” the company told AllThingsD.

Specific info on what caused the issue in the first place was not provided, nor on whether all Windows Phone 8 handsets were affected or not.
