O2 is one of the UK-based carriers that offers some Windows Phone handsets, which means the operator will have to approve some updates for these smartphones.

While some users are now waiting for Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1, O2 UK has just announced that the Windows Phone 8.l update will be available for the rest of the Lumia smartphone that did not receive it yet sometime this weekend.

According to the carrier, “the 8.1 update will roll out to the rest of the Lumia devices before this weekend. Given there's not many weekdays left this week... It'll be pretty soon.”

In addition, O2 UK also confirmed that the visual voicemail update for Nokia Lumia 630, 635 and 930 would be available very soon as well.

Those who have yet to be notified on the Windows Phone 8.1 update can manually check for it by going to Settings / Phone update. In case it doesn't show up yet, you should try again a bit later.

Once you install Windows Phone 8.1 on your device, you might want to check for the Update 1, which is already available for lots of Lumia smartphones on the market.

In the same piece of news, Everything Everywhere and Three UK are still testing the Cyan update for several Lumia smartphones, but we expect both carriers to roll it out soon.
