Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is reportedly getting ready to enter the market of large smartphones, and could launch the first such device before the end of this year.

According to the latest reports on the matter, the company is preparing a 5.5-inch or 6-inch smartphone for release sometime in September-October (alongside the cheaper Lumia 920), so as to better compete with similarly sized handsets from rival phone makers.

Specific info on the specifications list of the device hasn’t emerged so far, but nokiapoweruser notes that the Windows Phone 8 smartphone should pack the same PureView camera module as the recently launched Nokia Lumia 925.

Following this, a second large Lumia handset from the company should hit shelves sometime in February next year, with a higher megapixel count than the first one, and with Lytro (adjustable focus) technology.

Unfortunately, none of the two smartphones has been officially confirmed for the time being.
