14 DAY TRIAL // Owners of Symbian-based devices might have no official app store to head to when it comes to downloading applications starting with 2016, new reports on the matter suggest.
Apparently, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is set to shut down the Nokia Store portal for Symbian and MeeGo smartphones in about three years, at least this is what people in the know said, according to a post on thisisnokia.
The info comes only weeks after Nokia was rumored to plan on halting sales of Symbian devices, and suggests that the platform is finally headed to the graveyard, although nothing has been officially confirmed on the matter for the time being.
Applications that have been already downloaded and installed on smartphones will continue to work as before even after the store closes, but users won’t be able to update them or download new ones.
