Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia did not announce a new smartphone at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier this month, but the company might plan such an unveiling for the 2013 Mobile World Congress next month, rumor has it.

Apparently, the handset vendor might be set to unveil an upgraded flavor of the Nokia Lumia 920 smartphone at MWC in Barcelona, one that could land on shelves as Lumia 922.

No official confirmation on the matter has emerged so far, but the device is rumored to be en route to Verizon Wireless, as the exclusivity deal that Nokia has signed with AT&T for its flagship Windows Phone handset comes to an end.

Previously, Nokia did say that it planned on expanding the range of handsets available in the United States through wireless carriers, and a Lumia 922 would fit this initiative.
