Although it announced its first smartphones to run under Android, Nokia hasn’t abandoned the Windows Phone operating system, and it still has some devices powered by it in the pipeline.

One of them has leaked online in the form of Nokia Lumia 630 a few times before and made headlines once again today, as it is expected to officially appear in China sometime in mid-April.

Apparently, it will be released as one of the first handsets to run under the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, while featuring a 4.5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering an 854 x 480 pixel resolution.

Some info on the phone’s specs has also emerged online, suggesting that Nokia might pack it with a Snapdragon 400 processor, paired with 1GB of RAM, which should translate into pretty decent performance capabilities.

As WPCentral notes, the smartphone is not as impressive as high-end devices from Nokia would be, but it will certainly make a name for itself in the mid-range market, especially given that it will run under Windows Phone 8.1 right from the start.

However, official details on the mobile phone might not arrive until early April, given that Microsoft appears set to make Windows Phone 8.1 official at the BUILD conference, which takes place in that timeframe. Keep an eye on this space for updates.
