Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has been long rumored to plan the launch of a new affordable mid-range handset, in the form of Nokia Lumia 630, and it appears that the device is now one step closer to making an official appearance.

A certain Nokia RM-976 smartphone has just received the necessary approvals from the FCC, and rumor has it that this could be none other than the aforementioned Nokia Lumia 630.

As you can imagine, the handset hasn’t been confirmed as of now, yet there is a possibility that it will become official in the not too distant future.

In fact, some of the latest reports on the matter have suggested that Nokia is planning to hold a press event on April 19, and that this phone will be announced there, with the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system loaded on top.

The FCC listing does not unveil too much on the smartphone, though it does show it with the usual set of connectivity capabilities packed inside, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS receiver. Moreover, the device is listed with support for 850/1900 GSM bands.

The entry also revealedthat the upcoming Nokia device will be 66.7 mm wide and 129.5mm tall. As PhoneArena notes, the dimensions are in line with those spotted in a previously leaked product sheet of Lumia 630.

The smartphone is also said to arrive on the market with a 4.5-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 720 x 1280 pixels resolution, and to sport only on-screen navigation buttons.
