Microsoft might be preparing a successor for this device

Nokia Lumia 1020, the Windows Phone 8 smartphone that landed on the market last year with a 41-megapixel camera on the back, might reach end-of-life status in mid-September, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

The smartphone is currently seen as one of the best camera smartphones on the market, but it appears that Microsoft might consider ending its life roughly one year after bringing it to the market.

A recent post on evleaks suggests that the phone will be killed on September 14 this year, without offering additional details on the matter.

The smartphone includes pretty decent hardware inside, but chances are that the Redmond-based company is considering the release of a successor, which would sport better specifications.

Thus, it makes perfect sense for Lumia 1020 to reach EOL in two months, though it remains to be seen whether our supposition will indeed pan out.

Nokia and Microsoft haven’t provided specific details on how sales of this smartphone went so far, yet there is always the possibility that only imaging enthusiasts were attracted to it, especially due to its large camera on the back. Hopefully, more info on the matter will emerge soon, so stay tuned.
