It might be a high-end Windows Phone 8 device, or a fake rumor

A new Nokia smartphone was reportedly spotted in the company’s Remote Device Access (RDA) service, namely the Nokia Lumia 1001.

The service was designed to allow access to a wide range of devices through the use of a browser, enabling developers to test applications even though they do not have the actual hardware at hand.

However, the service was designed for devices based on Series 40, Symbian, MeeGo and Maemo OS, which makes it rather strange for Windows Phone handsets to pop up there.

The latest of these would be Nokia Lumia 1001, which could be a very high-end smartphone – probably running under Windows Phone 8 – based on Nokia’s latest naming scheme.

Previously, the “Nokia 900 Windows Phone” was seen there, TechCrunch reports, which could suggest that the new phone would be real. However, without an official confirmation, we’ll take this new rumor with a big grain of salt.
