Owners of the HTC DROID DNA smartphone on Verizon’s network will not get a taste of the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system, at least not this year.

Jason Mackenzie, president of HTC America, announced on Twitter plans to bring the latest Sense UI experience to the device, but on the Android 4.2.2 platform release, not on the newer one.

“Regarding Droid DNA. Update and clarification is that DNA customers will get new Sense experiences (w/ 4.2.2) before end of year,” Mackenzie said.

HTC also confirmed that the Developer Edition of HTC One would get Android 4.3 this week, though it appears that DROID DNA users are not as lucky.

Given the situation, I would not be surprised if DROID DNA users moved to handsets from competition, though some might also choose to install unofficial, Android 4.3-based software on their units.
