Google’s Nexus series of devices has proved highly popular among users, and the company plans on releasing new devices in the lineup, Sundar Pichai, Google's head of Chrome and Android, has confirmed at the D11 conference.

Although the company partnered with handset vendors for the release of new flavors of flagship smartphones with stock Android loaded on top, the Nexus series will keep on living, it seems.

"The idea with Nexus is to push on hardware as well, so that will continue," Sundar Pichai said at the conference, a recent article on The Verge reads. However, no specific info on when the next such device will arrive has been provided.

However, it seems that the company will also focus on the release of more smartphones running under vanilla Android, such as the “Google edition” Samsung Galaxy S 4 and HTC One.
