Unless you are rooted, you can’t even interact with it

Android users have become addicted by their phones’ LED notification light, which saves them time and battery if they want to check whether or not they have received a notification without having to wake up the screen.

Just about any Android smartphones launched these days has one, but Windows Phone and iOS devices don’t support this feature.

Now the newest Android smartphone in the Nexus series seems to have a hidden LED notification light, Droid-Life reports. The newly discovered LED is hidden under the top speaker grill in a rather odd position.

The LED doesn’t seem to do anything except for blinking red when the Nexus 6’s battery is close to being completely depleted. This isn’t something new for Motorola, as most smartphones released by this manufacturer, including the Moto X, have this hidden LED notification.

Given the fact that Nexus 6 comes with Ambient Display function, which is supposed to light up every time you get a notification, it makes the presence of the LED notification light kind of redundant.

However, there are many customers who prefer to use the LED notification light instead of the Ambient Display feature, which apparently eats up a lot of the phone’s battery.

The hidden full RGB LED notification light can’t be used unless your Nexus 6 is rooted, and not even then will it allow for full customization.

For the time being, Lightflow devs are the only ones trying to adjust their Android application so that it can make use of the newly discovered LED notification LED in the Nexus 6, so you might want to take a look at their instructions on how to enable and adjust colors.
