Although it hasn’t been made available in many markets out there as of now, the Sony Xperia Z2 smartphone has already seen a new firmware being certified for it.

The new software was spotted over at the PTCRB with build number 17.1.A.2.49 attached to it and should be released to all Xperia Z2 D6502 and D6503 models out there, it seems.

According to XperiaBlog, the new software should arrive on handsets as an incremental update over the previously available firmware version 17.1.A.2.36.

The new release will be based on the same Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, that was unveiled for the handset right from the start. However, no specific info on the enhancements that it might bring to smartphones has been provided as of now.

Apparently, the same firmware version has been approved for the Xperia Z2 Tablet SGP521 and SGP541 models and should start arriving on them soon.

Sony Xperia Z2 has yet to become available internationally, following its official launch at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month.

The handset will hit shelves in a great deal of countries starting early April, though it is also expected to see delays in some of them. In fact, Sony has already confirmed that it won’t be able to meet initial demand for the handset, due to a series of production issues.
