Sony Mobile is reportedly gearing up for the release of a new software update for its Sony Xperia GX and Xperia SX smartphones.

The new firmware has already been approved for these devices over at the PTCRB, and it remains to be seen when Sony plans to start pushing it out to end-users.

The new software release received certification as version 7.0.D.1.130, and is expected to arrive both on Sony Xperia SX SO-05D and on Sony Xperia GX SO-04D.

However, it seems that the new software will still be based on Google’s Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

According to a recent post on Blog of Mobile, the new software refresh will be pushed out only as a minor update for these devices, with nothing outstanding packed inside. Stay tuned for more on it.
