Motorola is getting ready for the release of a new software update for its DROID Bionic smartphone, and the company has already invited users to participate in the testing of the firmware.

No specific info on what the update is all about has been provided as of yet, but Droid-life suggests that this might be the long awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS upgrade that DROID Bionic users have been waiting for for about a year now. Motorola did say that the update is set to arrive on this device sometime in the fourth quarter of the year, and the timing of this soak test seems about right.

Provided that this is indeed the platform release in question, it should become available for download for all users in about two or three weeks, it seems.
