The new software will arrive only as a maintenance release

Owners of a Motorola DROID RAZR M smartphone on the network of Verizon Wireless in the United States might soon get a taste of a new software update, as the mobile phone maker has already started informing the members of its Feedback Network on its upcoming availability.

Unfortunately, the email sent to these users clearly states that this is only a maintenance update for the smartphone, which means that no Android 4.2 Jelly Bean will be packed inside it, as some might have hoped.

As Droid-life notes in a recent post, the update should start arriving at testers within days, while being expected to reach the rest of DROID RAZR M owners in a matter of weeks.

Hopefully, official info on the matter will be provided in the not too distant future, so stay tuned for more on this.
