Mobile phone maker Motorola is getting ready for the release of a new software update for its Motorola DROID 4 smartphone, and has already started to invite users to a soak test.

As droid-life notes, the new software update might be coming soon, though there’s little chance that it will bring an upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat, which is currently rolling out to other Motorola smartphones out there.

The handset vendor has made it quite clear that DROID 4 will remain on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, which means that the new software might arrive only as a maintenance update. Chances are that users will receive the usual bug fixes, along with some other enhancements and some more bloatware.

No changelog for the release has been provided as of now, but it might not be too long before one of them arrives, so stay tuned for more on the matter.
