Mobile phone maker Motorola is gearing up for the release of a new device on shelves at Sprint, one that should offer support for the wireless carrier’s LTE network, it seems.

The handset was just spotted on the Federal Communication Commission's website with packed connectivity on LTE band 25 (Sprint's 1900MHz flavor), and with NFC (Near Field Communication) capabilities.

The new device sports model number XT897 at the feds, and Engadget suggests that it could easily become the Motorola Photon Q LTE for Sprint. It should run under Android, as its predecessor.

Unfortunately, no other info on the device was made available through the FCC listing, and we’ll have to wait for the release date to approach to learn more on it.

Hopefully, that won’t happen in the distant future, and Sprint’s customers will get a new, appealing Motorola handset soon.
