Verizon and Motorola have yet to release the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for Moto X (2nd Gen), but instead they have decided that it would be better to bring the budget-friendly Moto E (2nd Gen) to this version of the operating system.

The Big Red has just confirmed that a new Android 5.1 Lollipop upgrade is now rolling out to Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) devices. The update is pushed OTA (over the air) in stages, so it might take a few days to arrive to all units.

According to the official changelog, the update brings some UI improvements, such as volume settings panel icons which have been added to match icons in status bar. Also, users will now be able to quickly select different WiFi accessories or Bluetooth devices with the added pull-down controls.

New interruption controls have been added too, so users can now block interruptions until their next alarm or enter a scheduled downtime early.

The Factory Reset Protection feature has been implemented as well, along with notification volume controls access (change notification volume while media is playing).
