AT&T launched the Motorola ATRIX 4G almost two years ago with Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system onboard.

Although the US-based handset manufacturer confirmed several times that the smartphone would receive a major upgrade, ATRIX 4G is still stuck on Gingerbread.

However, this is about to change as AndroidPolice reports Motorola is now looking for ATRIX 4G owners who are members of Motorola Feedback Network and wish to participate in an early preview of a new software release.

Even though Motorola does not provide additional details on the update, there’s a high chance that this is the long-awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update.

It’s unclear exactly when the soak test commences, but if everything goes well, Motorola ATRIX 4G owner might receive the upgrade in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
