Bad news for DROID RAZR MAXX HD owners, as Motorola confirmed the smartphone would remain on current Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean version.

Although the handset maker started a soak test for the delivery of another major update for DROID RAZR MAXX HD back in the Summer, it appears that the conclusions were negative, thus Motorola decided to stop offering any upgrades to the device.

Verizon customers who still own the smartphone will probably want to upgrade to a newer device or install an unofficial Android 4.2 Jelly Bean build.

As Phonearena points out, Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX HD was released at Verizon back in November with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box.

However, the smartphone received an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update later on, which will be the last major upgrade it gets.
