Motorola Mobility and Verizon Wireless introduced the DROID Bionic in the United States back in September 2011.

The smartphone was shipped with Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system onboard, but received an Ice Cream Sandwich update one year later.

Today, the folks over at Phandroid have been tipped on the upcoming Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update that is expected to roll out to Motorola DROID Bionic devices.

It looks like Motorola has already confirmed that the DROID Bionic users will be able to upgrade their smartphones beginning Q2 2013. Check it out here.

Unfortunately, there are no additional details on the exact release date of Jelly Bean for Motorola DROID Bionic.

However, we expect that Verizon will soon publish the official changelog of the major update, so stay tuned for more info on the matter.
